The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Chairperson Kathleen Addy has called on Ghanaians to vote based on candidates’ competence and plans, rather than money, ethnicity, or religion, in the December 7 elections.

Addressing the Society of Catholic Social Scientists, Addy emphasized that voting is both a right and a civic duty essential for democratic accountability.

She urged voters to abandon outdated loyalties and to evaluate candidates on merit, adding that unity across religious and ethnic lines is crucial to avoid division.

The NCCE, she said, is collaborating with religious leaders to encourage peace and tackle issues like political monetization, violence, misinformation, and religious tolerance ahead of the election.
