Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has raised concerns about the rising rate of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Ghana, referring to them as the "next pandemic."
He emphasized the necessity of immediate and proactive measures to prevent these diseases from becoming widespread and causing severe health and economic impacts.
Dr. Dacosta highlighted the importance of addressing NCDs from their root causes, advocating for a shift from curative to preventive healthcare.
The NHIA plans to introduce annual health checks and wellness clinics to detect and manage NCDs early, aiming to increase life expectancy and reduce financial burdens.
