The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been granted bail having been arrested by the Police Tuesday.
He is due to honour another invitation on Thursday, June 13, 2019.
A statement from the police said: “The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating various acts of kidnapping and causing unlawful damage in which credible and actionable intelligence makes Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a suspect.”
The NDC chair, according to reports, was taken to his home for a search as part of investigations into kidnapping allegations against him.
He was visiting heroes of the party with the general secretary when he was arrested.
The arrest comes weeks after Mr. Ofosu Ampofo refused to honour an invitation by the Police CID to report at the headquarters of the investigative body.
Starr News sources say he was picked at the home of another kingpin of the party.
Members of the party have reportedly massed up at the Police headquarters.
The NDC chair has allegedly been accused by a suspect of kidnapping case as the mastermind of the crime.
