A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Osu has blamed the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over Thursday’s attack on the 2016 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The group strongly believes the hardcore NDC youth in the area were behind the stoning of the opposition leader when he was on the campaign platform addressing electorates of Osu Ashante Blohum in the Korle Klottey constituency.
“The concerned youth on our own preliminary investigation wishes to put the blame squarely on the hardcore NDC youth in the area,” the group said in a statement issued in Accra and jointly signed by its Convener and Spokesperson, Nii Yeboah Okwei and Kwabena Opoku Amponsah.
The group, commenting further, condemned the dastardly act and called on the every youth in the country to be decent and accommodate the views of others, especially, during the electioneering campaign.
“We condemn this grievous and shameful act of cowardness against the NPP and its presidential candidate. There should be strength in diversified opinions. The youth should not allow themselves to be used to propagate evil and violence.”
