A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffour, has referred the protests by the opposition parties against the new voters’ register as evidence that “they are dying”.
To him, if the parties led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are confident enough, they would not protest the decision by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) to have a new voters’ register.
“If you are not confident enough, everything that comes your way is a problem,” he told Stephen Anti, host of Hot Issues on TV3, on Saturday, January 18.
He said without recourse to the decision the EC takes, the NPP is on a victory path.
“We believe we are winning the elections,” he stated emphatically.
“We believe we have put certain structures in place [and] we believe that as we are moving to December, we are going to put certain activities and certain things in place that will make us win.”
The former US-based teacher said the NDC has no message and so it is copying the NPP every step of the way into the December elections.
“Our opponents are watching us. You move to A, they want to move to B because they are not confident enough.”
He called for support for the EC and asked all parties to abide by the decision of the country’s election management body as regards the biometric voter management system.
