Tue, 22 Apr 1997 Source: --

Madina Mr William Agbeti, Administrator of Echoing Hills Village Incorporated (EHVI) Ghana, an NGO, today called on the government to encourage the participation of local and foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in building the nation. He said NGOs have become indispensable vessels for social change and economic growth, adding "without NGOs, it will take the nation time to realise her goals and dreams". Mr Agbeti made the call at the opening ceremony of the Echoing Hills Village, a rehabilitation Centre, at Madina. The centre will initially house 12 male disabled persons and provide them with medical, social, mental and spiritual rehabilitation. Mr Agbeti said: "Ghana can develop as a middle and high income economy if disabled persons are integrated into the mainstream of the socio-economic life of the country".
