NPP bought ‘doctored’ Ofosu Ampofo tape for GHC2,000 – Anim Piesie

A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Bernard Anim Piesie has alleged that the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) bought the purported leaked tape of NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for GHC2,000.

According to him, the NPP succeeded in getting a mole within the NDC to release the tape in a bid to divert attention from the wrong happenings under the Akufo Addo government.

“I’ll be shocked if the person who doctored the tape attends church, such an evil mind. You know when members of the NDC and NPP meet we engage ourselves in conversations. Some of the NPP members have told us in confidence that they intentionally doctored the tape and are circulating it. They even went further to say that they bought the tape for GHC2,000. They intentionally asked for the tape to be brought to doctor it just to shape their minds of Ghanaians against the NDC and also divert attention from the wrongs going on under this government,” Bernard Anim Piesie said during a radio discussion.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo on the tape is heard telling party communicators that the NDC ahead of the 2020 elections is strategizing to launch attacks on some prominent personalities in the society including the National Peace Council Chair, Reverend Emmanuel Asante, the EC Chairperson Mrs Jean Mensah.

“For the first time, I will endorse insulting the National Peace Council Chair,” to cheers from the NDC Communicators, whilst he said the “The party will come out with a number of policy initiatives. Security and Intelligence Unit in the party will be formed and we will appoint National Coordinator, Regional, District and Constituency officers to lead these Unites as we zoom along into 2020.”

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo further stated that the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensah’s comments over the Ayawaso incident was unpalatable to them, and hence they will “take her to the cleaners.”

He has also told his people to launch similar attacks on President Akufo-Addo who is the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, urging them to do all in their power to paint him violent in the face of the international community, thereby discrediting his credibility.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service has invited Mr. Ofosu Ampofo for questioning over the leaked tape.

In a statement released by the Police-CID and signed by the Deputy Director-General, ACP G. Tweneboah said:”The Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service has intercepted an audio message circulating on both traditional and Social media on Wednesday, 27th February, 2019 in which you are alleged to have made some comments that have some security implications.”



The NDC National Chairman is to report to the Police Headquarters on Thursday February 28, 2019 to assist in investigations.

The New Juabeng North Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, has urged the Church of Pentecost of which the Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is an Elder, to take disciplinary action against him as he’s a disgrace to the church.

This follows the emergence of a secret recording purported to be that of Mr Ofosu Ampofo in which he’s allegedly heard making certain damning comments that have national security implications.
