NPP executives ‘boycott’ JB’s funeral anniversary celebrations

National Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) were conspicuously missing at the 1st anniversary celebration of the death of late Abuakwa North Member of Parliament (MP), Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu held at his hometown during the weekend.

Family spokesperson Kwaku Solomon who confirmed to mynewsgh.com, said letters had been issued to all of them but was at a loss why the failed to show up to commensurate with the bereaved family of the deceased lawmaker.

“We personally delivered letters to them in anticipation they were going to come for the celebration but surprisingly none came except a few constituency executives. We have not had any explanation from them why they did not attend”, he revealed

The anniversary celebration which was held at Akim Tafo (his hometown) is the second after similar one has been done in Accra on February 9, which was the exact date the late MP was killed.

Few political figures were spotted at the ceremony held at the Old Tafo Roman Catholic Church and the official cemetery of the late MP’s family.

Meanwhile, most mourners expressed worry at the murder of the late MP accounting his goodness and love for everyone.

Present were Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Samuel Atta Akyea, Abuakwa South MP and Minister of Works and Housing, Adwoa Sarfo, Deputy Majority leader and MP, Dome – Kwabenya, Deputy Gender and Social Protection minister and Abuakwa North MP, Gifty Twum-Ampofo among other regional and constituency executives.

The late MP was brutally murdered after being stabbed at his Shiashie residence in Accra moments after he was reported to have returned from Parliament.

His family wants fresh investigations conducted into circumstances leading to his death.

At a press conference to commemorate the one year of his unfortunate demise, the family said it is so far dissatisfied with the conduct of the police in the whole matter and therefore want the president to immediately step in and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
