NPP has fallen apart - Dr. Nduom

The New Patriotic Party might seem unfazed by the internal turbulence that is slowly disintegrating them from a patriotic turf to an unknown destination.

Perhaps, the elephant fraternity believes with their beleaguered National Chairman out of the picture, albeit temporarily, the party would soon ride on calm waters.

And though that conviction might possibly lead to some progress, flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom believes the NPP can best be described as a political party lying in tatters.

The leader of the PPP in an interview with Peacefmonline.com was blunt in discussing issues which has afflicted the party he once served in as minister when it was in power.

“The NPP is a party that has fallen apart,” were the first words that fell out from the lips as he touched on the divisiveness that has engulfed the NPP.

The party has for some time now not known peace following a decision by the National Executive Committee to indefinitely suspend Mr. Paul Afoko as National Chairman.

On Friday, 23 October, 2015, the NEC endorsed a recommendation by the National Disciplinary Committee to force Mr. Paul Afoko to step aside for working against the interest of the party.

Two party members have lost their lives following disagreements that has sprouted from issues connected to the Chairman of the party.

Latest to kick the bucket was Abubakar Saddiq, a 37-year-old spare parts dealer who was stabbed in the neck area and butchered with a machete in addition, for protesting against his constituency chairman’s decision to drag some few party members to Accra to demonstrate against Afoko’s suspension.

The mounting tension makes it clear the party isn’t ready for power and Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom wonders how the party would be able to work efficiently should it be voted for in 2016.

He ended by declaring the PPP as the only party that has been consistent since its formation in 2012. He claims the PPP doesn’t only criticize but goes a step further in suggesting solutions to problems faced in Ghana.
