The fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has dwindled over the years because of his bad leadership, Koku Anyidoho, a Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said.
According to him, the NPP’s presidential candidate will receive the shock of his life with regards to his performance in elections when the total votes for this year’s elections are announced.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Monday November 28 in connection with the NDC’s preparation towards the elections, Mr Anyidoho said: “It’s not the Volta Region alone [that he will lose]; all over the country the fortunes of the NPP have dwindled under Akufo-Addo because of his bad leadership style. If you go the Ashanti Region and listen to what the people are saying, it tells you that Akufo-Addo will be shocked after the election results have been announced.
“If Volta doesn’t vote for him, he will not be worried because Volta doesn’t vote NPP. But the majority of votes that former President Kufuor had in the Ashanti Region for the NPP, Akufo-Addo will be shocked the way his vote count will reduce drastically in the Ashanti Region this year.
“We the NDC will have a first round victory this year and [Dr Mahamudu] Bawumia (NPP’s vice presidential candidate) will not get the opportunity to waste everybody’s time in the Supreme Court again…and I hope Bawumia will get himself educated on how the pink sheets operate and not embarrass himself in the Supreme Court again after they have lost the 2016 elections.”
