Two-time winners of the National Science and Maths Quiz, Achimota School have been knocked out of the 2018 NSMQ competition after they lost to Tamale SHS in Monday’s contest in the ongoing one-eighth session.
Tamale SHS, who qualified for the one-eighth stage as a seeded school based on their good performance in 2017, won the contest with 48 points, against Achimota School who scored 45 points, and Apam Senior High School who scored 35 points.
The two schools, Achimota School and Apam SHS will have to wait for another year to compete for a place in the 2019 NSMQ.
However, Tamale SHS, on the other hand, has a few more chances to win the trophy as it has qualified for the quarter-final stage.
The one-eighth stage of the NSMQ which consists of 27 contests will end on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
The winners of the 27 contests will then progress to the quarter-finals where they gain automatic qualification to the 2019 edition of the competition.
The Quarter Finals stage spans from June 28th- June 30, and Semi-Finals on July 2, 2018.
The Grand Finale of the NSMQ 2018 will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018.
