Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah says the 2016 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Akufo-Addo is making a mockery of himself by boasting of plans that will transform the Zongo dwellers in the country.
Nkansah argues the NDC party, who are true partners of Zongo development has already set the pace in touching the lives of the inhabitants of the various Zongo communities across-board, adding that it would therefore not be ‘any big deal’ on his claim of bringing development to the Zongo people.
The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, recently reiterated his commitment to setting up a special fund aimed at enhancing infrastructural development in Zongo communities and improving the lives of their resident if he was elected President of Ghana.
According to him, the Zongo Development Fund announced first in 2012 will tackle the deprived nature of the Zongos.
But reacting to the claims by the NPP leader on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM Friday, Solomon Nkansah said Akufo-Addo is delayed in his decision to make an impact in the lives of Zongos.
“The NDC party has already endeared the hearts of the Zongo people in the past years – We’ve not relented in promoting the lives of the ordinary Zongo man on the street. What else can you deceive them with? The core needs of the Zongos have been addressed.
“Today we’ve improved their educational system and have also consolidated HAJJ pilgrimage that used to suffer some setbacks even when a Muslim was a Vice President under the NPP government. And not to talk of the least various holidays on the calendar they enjoy now that seeks to promote the Muslim faith, as well as other remarkable feats in relation to development.”
