The historic River Suble in Nkroful, the birthplace of Ghana's first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has been devastated by illegal mining, known as "galamsey."

Once a vital water source for the community, the river has been polluted, leaving residents struggling to access clean water.

Locals, including Christopher Tane and Ama Begyina, expressed frustration over the environmental damage and called on the government to intervene.

They blame local chiefs for allowing the destruction of the river, which they relied on for drinking and bathing, especially during the dry season.
