The Vice President of policy think tank, IMANI Africa Kofi Bentil says the recent 'no-bed syndrome' saga in the country is not as a result of a systematic failure.
His comment follows the death of a 70-year-old man; in an emergency situation who died after being rejected by seven hospitals.
Kofi Bentil says the medical staffs have no excuse to give as far as this issue is concerned.
“Is it not in the same system that a severed hand was sewn back? The first hospital didn’t have the resource and they transferred the patient to a different one where it was done...our medical staffs are desensitised..." he noted.
Mr Bentil who was speaking in a panel discussion on Joy FM's newsfile programme, Saturday, said "if I have to choose between being treated on the floor and dying, I want to be treated on the floor” rather than dying
According to him, "when it comes to how people are treated in the hospitals, it is not the issue of the politician; it is about the hospital management and how desensitised health professionals are: when they want to treat you well, they treat you well...as a country, we can do better"
