Oppong Nkrumah explains why Akufo-Addo delayed in testing for coronavirus

According to him, the president was immediately tested for the virus by his doctors after the introduction of enhanced testing, which was adopted by the government.

He told Citi News that, “Akufo-Addo wasn’t tested when he came back… a day before his birthday was when the enhanced testing programme etc had started…At first, what we were doing was just observation, we were not doing this aggressive testing, as we have started, that is how come the president and his close associates, secretariat staff, etc. have been tested."

Dr Patrina Tekyi-Ankrah, the president's physician told the media in Accra that, the president's results, as well as his immediate family and members of his secretariat tested negative for the coronavirus.

Ghana's coronavirus cases have increased to 204 as of Thursday, April 2, 2020.

The death toll is five across five regions - Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions.
