Oppong Nkrumah launches Hydro Fund to address perennial flooding

The Built Environment National Conference on Housing and Hydrology (BENCHH) 2024 has been launched to address Ghana's housing and flooding challenges.

The Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, launched the Ghana Hydrological Fund, with GHS 1.5 million in seed funding, to mitigate flood risks and improve water management.

The conference aims to address the housing deficit, currently at 1.8 million units, and flooding issues, which are exacerbated by inadequate drainage infrastructure and climate change.

Discussions will focus on regulatory reforms, public-private partnerships, and innovative approaches to address these challenges.
