Social justice activist Felicity Nelson has condemned Ghana’s criminal justice system, accusing it of treating suspects "like slaves."
Nelson, who participated in the Democracy Hub #StopGalamseyNow protest, recounted her experience with the police after being detained for unlawful assembly.
She said her rights were violated, as she was denied access to her family and her phone, leading to her suffering an asthma attack while in custody.
Nelson criticized the system's broader treatment of detainees, highlighting how many inmates lack access to legal counsel or basic communication with their families.
