Over 30 students hospitalised over suspected food poisoning at Ajumako Afransi Technical Institute

Over 30 students at Ajumako Afransi Technical and Vocational Institute in the Central Region of Ghana were hospitalized after eating contaminated food, reportedly "waakye" (rice and beans).

Students complained of stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea. School authorities rushed them to nearby hospitals, where most have been stabilized.

Preliminary investigations and lab tests are underway to determine the cause of the illness.

The administrator of the Salvation Army Polyclinic appealed for government support.

The exact cause remains unknown, and school authorities have yet to comment. Investigations are ongoing to determine the root cause of the illness.
