The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has projected a revenue requirement of GH₵6.81 billion for the second quarter, an increase of GH₵1.14 billion from the first quarter's GH₵5.67 billion.
As a result, electricity and water tariffs will increase from July 1 to September 30, 2024.
Lifeline electricity consumers (0-30kWh) will see a 3.45% rise, while other residential consumers will face a 5.84% increase. The PURC plans to recover GH₵5.90 billion of the second quarter's requirement, with the remaining GH₵906.21 million to be recovered later.
Water tariffs will also rise by 5.16%, with an additional GH₵34.33 million needed in the second quarter.
