Scores of terrified parents and guardians have thronged the campus of Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) in a desperate move to check up on their children and possibly take them home following the ‘strange’ deaths that have hit the school.
The deeply worried parents some of whom have come to the school from as far as Accra and the Northern Region have had their blood pressure rising following news of the latest death of a first-year-student who’s alleged to have died from Meningitis.
His death brings the death toll recorded under similar circumstances in the school to three in one week. Master Livingstone Furgerson Fodjour, a General Arts student who died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) brings to six the number of such occurrences this year.
Kasapafmonline.com sources in the school say several other students are on admission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital and KATH.
Two students died after they were rushed to the hospital after they experienced what looked like fever at the school’s clinic. Three students had earlier died in April this year under similar circumstances.
School authorities have remained reticent over the incident, while blood samples of the affected students have been reportedly sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute in Accra for examination.
