The National Peace Council has called an emergency meeting ahead of a tense parliamentary session on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

The session follows the Supreme Court's suspension of Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant.

The Minority has threatened to occupy the Majority's seats in protest, raising concerns about potential disruptions.

The Peace Council is engaging key stakeholders, including NPP and NDC leaders, to ensure a peaceful session.

Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, a Council member, emphasized the need for restraint and responsible actions to protect Ghana’s democracy amidst the political uncertainty.
