Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has warned that the plea bargaining regime will not shield criminals from justice.

While the regime allows for negotiation of charges or reduced punishment, serious offenses like sexual crimes and election-related violations are excluded.

Addressing prosecuting attorneys, Tuah-Yeboah emphasized that the Plea Bargaining Act must be applied judiciously, ensuring that only deserving individuals benefit.

He cautioned the public and criminals alike that the act is not an excuse for evading justice and will be strictly enforced where applicable.
