Police Inquiry Into Arms Burglary At Armoury Called For

Wed, 15 Oct 1997 Source: --

The Kokomba Development Association, KODA, has added its voice to the call for a police inquiry into a burglary incident in which some arms and ammunitions were stolen from the armoury of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, CEPS, at Yendi in the Northern Region. The association has also appealed to the government to investigate the activities of the Dagbon War office. A statement signed by the General Secretary of KODA, Mr.. F. K. Arthur, said the Association's concern emanates from the fear that the arms burgled could be used to threaten peace and security in the region. It recalled a similar incident at Bimbilla, just before the outbreak of the Northern conflict which claimed several lives and property. It is against this back ground, the statement added, that the recent burglary at Yendi should be viewed with serious concern, since the people are still recuperating from the destruction and trauma, that they suffered from the conflict and would not want to experience another.
