The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has granted permit to agents of all the political parties and Returning Officers to inspect the biometric verification devices (BVDs) that were used in the Special Voting exercise on Thursday, December 1, 2016.
The exercise which will take place on Friday, December 2, 2016, is to enable these agents and the Returning Officers to reconfirm the number of persons who actually voted in the Special Voting exercise before the counters of the devices reset itself to zero on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
The move, according to the electoral management body, is “to guarantee the integrity of the ballots already cast.”
This was contained in a statement signed and issued, Thursday, by the Head of the EC, Eric Kofi Dzapkasu moments after the Commission’s engagement with the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service and an emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).
