Professor Roger Kanton of the Savannah Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) has urged the Ghanaian government to prioritize constructing a large dam at Kubore to store water spilled from Burkina Faso’s Bagre Dam.
This dam would provide a reliable water supply to communities in the Northeast and Upper East regions during the dry season.
He suggested adopting Israel’s water storage methods to enhance food production and criticized the government’s spending priorities, noting that investing in irrigation schemes is relatively minor compared to other expenditures.
