The Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) has warned the public, especially mothers, about counterfeit and unhygienic diapers on the market.
This followed alerts from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) regarding unsanitary baby diapers, leading to the seizure and destruction of numerous containers at a recycling plant in Ashaiman.
CPA CEO Kofi Kapito highlighted the health risks these substandard diapers pose to infants, urging parents to prioritize quality over cost.
He praised the FDA for its effective post-market inspections and swift removal of these harmful products.
Kapito emphasized that cheap diapers could result in higher costs due to potential health issues for children.
