Abu Ramadan’s attempt to get the Supreme Court to order the Electoral Commission to either compile a new register of voters or declare the current register null and void ahead of the November polls, is “much ado about nothing,” and also “a total waste of everybody’s time”, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Koku Anyidoho, has said.

Although the Supreme Court did not grant Mr Ramadan’s reliefs, the seven-member panel of judges ordered the EC to clean the register by expunging the names of dead people, minors as well as people who used health insurance cards to register in 2012.

Mr Ramadan and the main opposition New Patriotic Party have claimed victory as far as the apex court’s verdict is concerned, but Mr Anyidoho told Prince Minkah on Class91.3 FM's Executive Breakfast Show on Friday May 6, that the NPP was twisting the verdict for propaganda purposes.

“The EC has laid down procedures, so, we will follow the rules, we cannot go and crack a whip on the back of the EC to do something outside of its own jurisdictional operation. That is what the court ruled, virtually. Now it is left in the domain of the EC administration; or did the ruling indicate how the EC should go about it?”

“At the end of the day it all lies in the domain of the EC and the EC has said that they will do what they need to do,” Mr Anyidoho added.
