It is not true that Former President Rawlings had said anywhere that there will be a coup if Kufuor is re-elected.
During his campaign tour of the Volta region and elsewhere, President Rawlings had challenged institutional heads, including those of the security agencies, to call the government to order in respect of the government presiding over policies which threaten the security of the country such as the high cost of electricity, water and fuel which are impoverishing the people. The proliferation of arms into the hands of non-security personnel etc are all matters which President Kufuor has turned a blind eye to. These disturbing developments are what could lead to coups and NOT President Rawlings' criticisms of a failed government.
