Former President Jerry John Rawlings has congratulated the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu who turned 100 years on April 23, speaking volume of the cleric’s wisdom.
The former president acknowledged that Sheikh Sharubutu is a well-known statesman, revered by many for what he stands for.
“Sheikh you’re revered across the religious divide for your good leadership, wisdom and strong sense of purpose,” Mr. Rawlings posted on social media platform, Twitter.
“You remain a significant anchor for the stability we find in our society,” he added, “You hardly speak but when you speak, it evokes only wisdom.”
The former president asked for Allah’s blessings for the Chief Imam and prayed that he will continue to impact positively on Ghanaians.
A number of activities have been lined up for the centenary celebrations including a public lecture to be addressed by Dr. Mohammed Ibn. Chambas, United Nations General Secretary’s Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel on Tuesday.
The Chief Imam also visited the Christ the King Catholic Church to worship with Christians during the Easter Sunday.
