Rebecca Akufo-Addo leads NPP car washing campaign

It was fun galore when Rebecca Akufo-Addo, wife of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, joined scores of pretty-looking ladies to wash vehicles in Kumasi Saturday morning.

The young ladies, who belong to the NPP Loyal Ladies’ group, have in recent times been seen washing vehicles for free and campaigning vigorously for the NPP on the streets of the Ashanti Regional capital ahead of the December 7 elections.

Edmund Kyei, a top NPP member in Kumasi, extended a last-minute invitation to Ms Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who was on a campaign tour of the region, to take part in the NPP Loyal Ladies Car Wash and Street Campaign.

Mrs Akufo-Addo, whose schedule was very tight, managed to pass by the Asokwa Car Washing Bay and was accorded a rousing welcome by the enthusiastic-looking ladies, who were clad in NPP colours.

Drivers who were plying the road in the vicinity at the time suddenly parked their vehicles by the shoulder of the road and joined the ladies, cresting heavy traffic at the Asokwa interchange.

Madam Patricia Appiagyei, the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asokwa Constituency and Justin Kodua, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the party, among other party chieftains, were also present at the colourful function.

The Loyal Ladies were Mame Achia, Rose Adusei, Nana Akua Frimpongmaa, Awura Abena Appiah, Eva Boateng, Benedicta Osei, Rachael Opoku Agyeman, Abigail Kissiwaa and Regina Amoateng.

About 100 ladies were seen explaining NPP’s campaign message and vision to transform the country and bring relief to the people, to the supporters and onlookers as they washed the vehicles.

Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who looked impressed, commended the ladies for voluntarily washing people’s vehicles and campaigning to increase the NPP votes in the Ashanti Region.

She admonished them against complacency, especially as the December elections zero in, reminding them that it is only through hard work that the NPP could win the polls.

According to Rebecca Akufo-Addo, all the suffering that Ghanaian women had endured under the non-performing and uncaring National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration would be a thing of the past if the NPP wins power.

Madam Patricia Appiagyei also eulogized the Loyal Ladies and charged other women in the country to join the NPP campaign for change.

Edmund Kyei and Justin Kodua, in separate statements, charged the men in the party to emulate the shining example of the group by getting seriously involved in the campaign.
