The reassignment of the Director of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), William Kwasi Appiah, is apt, Kofi Bentil, private lawyer and vice-president of IMANI Ghana has said.
According to him, the way and manner issues surrounding the arrest and detention of the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, was handled, leaves much to be desired, a situation that makes his reassignment a good decision.
The BNI officials allowed Mr Anyidoho, who was arrested for inciting civil insurrection against the Akufo-Addo government during a radio station, to take pictures with persons including former President John Mahama, who visited the suspect in detention.
The pictures were widely circulated on social media.
It is, however, unclear if this development led to the removal of Mr Appiah.
In a tweet, Mr Bentil said: “It doesn't matter that the head of BNI was not in town, he was still responsible for the Koku mess. Removing him is good. NPP well done.
“Now let's see what happens to the US Agreement and those who brutalised the civilians. Quick action will be very well received as atonement.”
