Private legal practitioner Francis-Xavier Sosu has criticized the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, for leading what he calls a campaign of injustice against ordinary citizens.
His comments follow the arrest and detention of 32 protesters, including activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, during a Democracy Hub protest against illegal mining (galamsey).
The protesters have sued the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General, alleging their constitutional rights to peaceful assembly were violated.
Sosu condemned the treatment of peaceful demonstrators, questioning the justice system’s handling of such cases, especially concerning galamsey’s environmental impact.
