Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, received a warm welcome from the people of Malea, a fishing village on the island of Upolu, during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Apia, Samoa.

The Malea community adopted Ghana as "their own," celebrating with traditional dance, singing, and the ceremonial Kava, symbolizing unity and respect.

Ms. Botchwey expressed gratitude for the hospitality, offered gifts, and discussed potential cultural exchanges, including scholarships and village partnerships.

She is a candidate for the Commonwealth Secretary-General position alongside Dr. Mamadou Tangara and Joshua Setipa.
