Scrap Audit Service Board – Domelevo

Former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo has called for the elimination of the Audit Service Board, citing concerns about the independence of the Auditor-General's office.

Speaking at the 2024 Domelevo Accountability lectures in Accra, he argued that the board's control over staff recruitment undermines the Auditor-General's autonomy.

Domelevo referenced his own experiences and suggested that the board is unnecessary for an independent institution.

He pointed out that in Sierra Leone, the board is merely advisory, with the Auditor-General serving as its chair, which better preserves the office's independence.
