An Accra High Court has remanded into custody a self-styled evangelist who confessed to double voting during last week’s general elections.

45 year old George Amaakye Yeboah pleaded guilty to a charge of unauthorised voting when he appeared before the court presided over by Justice V. D. Ofoe last Friday.

Yeboah, a plumber based at Dansoman, who describes himself as a freelance evangelist, was apprehended by a group of young men after he managed to vote at two different polling stations at Dansoman.

When asked how he managed to outwit electoral officials, Yeboah said he wiped off the indelible ink soon after it was applied to his thumb. He then went to another polling station and voted a second time with a different photo ID card.

The Dansoman Police Divisional Commander, Alhaji Ismail Saakah confirmed in an interview with JOY FM that the suspect is being held in custody until the 21st of this month when sentence will be given.
