A former Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer Yaw Baah has called for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to find a lasting solution to the clashes between nomadic Fulani herdsmen and indigenes of Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

“We need to set up a Commission of Inquiry to look into the Fulani issues in the Kwahu area,” he said.

His call follows clashes between nomadic Fulani herdsmen and some indigenes of Dwerebeafe, Aboyan, Mpeamu and Hweehwee in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region over the weekend, which resulted in the death of 9 Fulani’s.

Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda on Monday the former Kumawu MP, who expressed worry over the protracted Fulani/Kwahu feud believes, it is about time the country adopted a different approach to address the clashes since other options have failed.

“The forward and backward on the Fulani issue is becoming too much. We need to find a permanent solution to the clashes so that Ghana can move on,” he said.

He stressed the need approach the Fulani menace holistically due to the ECOWAS protocols of free movement of goods and services.
