Over 150 youths in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region face potential job losses after a rainstorm severely damaged Maphlix Farm, a 450-acre farm and major agricultural employer in the area.
The storm submerged over 100 acres, causing over $1.5 million in damage and destroying more than 20 greenhouses.
With 150 acres underwater, workers fear job losses. Dr. Felix Kamassah, CEO of Maphlix Trust Ghana Limited, highlighted the potential need for employment cuts and appealed for government assistance and broader insurance coverage for farmers.
Edem Agbana, NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu North, called for incentives to support the farm.
