Shamima Muslim, a prominent gender activist, expressed excitement and relief over the passage of the Affirmative Action, Gender Equity Bill 2024 by Parliament.
The bill, passed on Tuesday, addresses historical gender imbalances and promotes gender equity in both public and private sectors.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Muslim, former convenor of the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AMWA), congratulated stakeholders and emphasized the need for public education to ensure the bill's effective implementation.
Her advocacy efforts have significantly contributed to this milestone in the fight for gender equality in Ghana.
