Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has responded to calls for Speaker Alban Bagbin to be cited for contempt of court.
This follows Bagbin's refusal to comply with a Supreme Court ruling that stayed his decision declaring four parliamentary seats vacant.
Afenyo-Markin, who petitioned the court over the matter, explained that Bagbin has skillfully navigated the situation by distancing himself from decisions about seating arrangements and not officially declaring the Minority as the Majority.
While he dismissed the contempt claim, Afenyo-Markin urged Bagbin to act in line with democratic principles and instruct the Minority to return to their seats.
