The Breast Society of Ghana has urged illegal miners (galamsey operators) to stop their activities due to the severe health risks posed by the chemicals used.

Speaking at the launch of Pinktober 2024, a breast cancer awareness campaign, Dr. Hannah Ayettey Anie, the society's president, warned that illegal mining is linked to rising cases of cancer and birth deformities.

She emphasized that the harmful effects of these chemicals could have long-term consequences for both individuals and society, urging miners to halt their operations to protect public health.
