Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has appealed for calm in Bawku amid rising tension following a violent attack near Walewale on October 27.
Gunmen killed eight travelers along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, questioning their identities before opening fire and setting two vehicles ablaze.
Speaking on October 29, Asamoah Boateng urged residents and leaders to avoid politicizing the conflict and assured that the government, in cooperation with various parties, is dedicated to restoring peace.
He also cautioned traditional leaders to avoid actions that could worsen the situation.
