The delays experienced at the Supreme Court in high-profile political cases are attributed to political calculations rather than inefficiencies in the judicial system, according to Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa Kofi Bentil.

He believes that the court has the potential to perform better and emphasizes the importance of addressing these delays for the credibility and functioning of the judicial system.

Additionally, there has been controversy surrounding the nomination of five new judges to the Supreme Court, with the National Democratic Congress accusing the President and the Chief Justice of colluding to shield government officials from accountability.

The Attorney General has defended the integrity of the nomination process, while the Chief Justice has stated that the Supreme Court needs more judges to handle its caseload effectively.
