Supreme Court to deliver verdict on vacant parliamentary seats today

The case, initially postponed on October 30, questions whether these seats should remain vacant.

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo had directed Speaker Alban Bagbin to provide essential documents by November 6, following a request for more preparation time from his lawyer, Thaddeus Sory.

Attorney General Godfred Dame argued that the Speaker’s involvement is unnecessary, insisting that his office should represent public servants in cases related to constitutional matters.

Dame urged the court to proceed without the Speaker’s participation, focusing solely on the constitutional interpretation.
