A suspect in an attempt to escape arrest clubbed the station officer of Tapa Abotoase near the Biakoye District of the Oti Region with a metal bar, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The incident occurred at about 5am on Friday, February 14, 2020 when Chief Inspector, K. Kpodo accompanied by two others went to the village to arrest the suspect.
According to police sources available to MyNewsGh.com the injured policeman was in the company of one officer and the complainant one Avornyo Joseph.
But on reaching Grumakura a village near Abotoase to effect the arrest in the case involving the suspect for causing damage after a complaint was formally lodged, he became agitated and tried resisting arrest.
n the process the suspect hit the face of the Chief inspector with a metal object wounding him after which the suspect managed to escape.
The injured Station officer is currently on admission at the Worawora hospital undergoing treatment while police have intensified a search for the suspect believed to be hiding in some communities around the area.
