Hassan Ayariga, the presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC), has called for urgent government action to address the escalating conflict in Bawku, which has claimed 21 lives.
Speaking at the National Peace Campaign launch, Ayariga stressed the importance of resolving the conflict for a peaceful 2024 election, urging the media, clergy, and public to advocate for peace.
The violence, worsened by the return of exiled chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre and recent ambushes, has led to school and business closures. A 6:00 am to 6:00 pm curfew is now in place to help restore order.
