The unionized associations of Tamale Technical University (TaTU) have issued a statement demanding that the new Vice Chancellor be appointed from within the institution.
They commended the Governing Council for constituting a search committee but emphasize the importance of appointing a internal candidate, citing the university's unique expertise and culture.
They argued that internal candidates are typically prioritized in Ghanaian public universities and reject any move to appoint an external candidate.
They urged the Governing Council to demonstrate leadership and appoint a Vice Chancellor from within the university, which would serve the institution's interest and justify the trust in the Council.
