A coalition of teacher trainees in the Ashanti region is calling for the temporary closure of all 46 Colleges of Education due to an ongoing strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG).
The strike, which began on June 14, has disrupted classes and severely impacted students’ academic progress and mental health.
The trainees are demanding closure of the colleges and the implementation of the IN-IN-OUT system for final-year students.
They are also concerned about unpaid six-month trainee allowances, which are crucial for their living expenses.
The strike has left students uncertain about their academic and financial futures.
