Former president, John Dramani Mahama
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has committed to enhancing sports infrastructure throughout Ghana by constructing sports stadiums in all 16 regions if he wins the presidency.

During his campaign in the Oti Region, Mahama detailed his plan, which aims to develop talent and foster youth engagement. He assured residents that a new stadium would be built in Oti, improving sports facilities and generating job opportunities.
Mahama stated, "One of the NDC's policies is to establish stadiums in every region. We will build one for you in Oti Region." He highlighted that his administration would prioritize upgrading facilities to support various sports and stimulate local economies.
His focus on sports infrastructure is part of a larger effort to rejuvenate a sector that has struggled with inadequate facilities.
Notably, his previous government oversaw the construction of the Cape Coast Stadium, a modern facility opened in 2016.
