Lawyer and UPSA lecturer Ishaq Ibrahim has refuted claims that rice distributed to Senior High Schools was expired, stating it is still safe to consume.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, he explained the difference between "expiry date" and "best before," noting that products labeled "best before" remain usable if in good condition after the date passes.

This comes after North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa alleged 22,000 bags of expired rice were served to students, challenging government officials to eat it publicly.

Ablakwa also criticized the Ministry of Education for defending Lamens Investments Africa Limited, the company fined for repackaging the rice.

The controversy has raised concerns about food safety and accountability in school feeding programs.
