Nana Akomea, Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), has weighed in on the debate over Ghana’s founder, attributing the controversy to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah himself.
According to Akomea, Nkrumah coined the title "Founder of Ghana" and featured it on commemorative coins, despite Ghana’s territorial integrity existing before independence on March 6, 1957.
Akomea argues for recognizing all contributors to Ghana’s independence as "Independence Leaders," not just one individual.
He supports celebrating Nkrumah’s role while advocating for a broader acknowledgment of the collective efforts involved in Ghana’s liberation.
